Ohio State University is one of the top 5 largest universities in the nation.  The main campus is located in Columbus, Ohio, and regional campuses are located in Lima, Mansfield, Marion, Gibraltar Island (Stone Lab), Newark, and Wooster.  The Ohio State University medical school is home to the James Cancer Hospital, a cancer research institute, and the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, a research institute for cardiovascular disease. The Columbus campus is also home to the Wexner Center for the Arts, Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center, and Ohio Stadium, home of the Buckeyes.

The Buckeyes boast 5 Heiman trophy winners and participate in NCAA's Division I-A in all sports and the Big Ten Conference in most sports.   Other sports facilities include the Bill Davis Stadium, the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion, Buckeye Field, French Field House, Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, the Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range, Nicklaus Museum, North Turf Field, OSU Ice Rink, Peppe Aquatic Center, Stickney Tennis Center, St. John Arena, Steelwood Training Facility, the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, and the Griggs Reservoir on the Scioto River.
